“Kindergarten Teacher in the day; Yoga Teacher at night.”
Yoga came to Charlene Cook during a difficult time of change and transition; allowing her mind, body, and heart to be open to possibilities. Instead of always being caught up in a world of thought – of doing, thinking, remembering, anticipating… Yoga helped her to be grounded in the present and taught her to be grateful for the great things in life, such as nature, family, and friends. After being diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondilitis (inflammation arthritis), yoga became her medicine. It has allowed her to create strength, flexibility, and movement in her body. Making her feel energized, and vibrant.
When Charlene learned the gifts that yoga gave her, she wanted to share this knowledge with others. She obtained her 200 hour teacher training, studying under JP Tamblyn-Sabo at Ahimsa Toronto in 2011 and completed her certification in Pre and Post-Natal Yoga from Balanced Life in Ajax. Over the past 3 years, she has taught yoga in a variety of locations in the Durham area, including Vinyasa Flow classes, Restorative, and now Pre-Natal Yoga.
Her goal is that students leave her class feeling good physically, mentally, and emotionally. She wants them to realize that anything in life is possible. We just need to trust ourselves, our intuition, and know that ‘everything happens for a reason’.
Charlene believes that life is like yoga. We need to “Flow, Balance, and Breathe”.
